topic Contentless type in Alfresco Archive

What is the best approach for breating a type in alfresco that has no content. I have read Jeff Potts blog on the using datalist as a base type but that then limits you to a share site with obvious constraints. So I would rather model the contentless type and manage it in the repo via share. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Start modeling with cmbject as the base type. Then you will have no limitations what so ever

Could you please clarify what you mean when you say you want to manage the type in the repo via share?

If you want the type to show up in the repo browser without having content you could always base it on cm:folder.

/Erik

Hi Eric, thanks for response. What I mean by repo via share is that I want to ensure if I model it via cmbject that I will be able to do all crud operations on it using share, without having to customize share (other than normal configuration for forms, search etc to make the types visible). So are countless objects supported out of the box via share.

Regards

No, not out of the box, they won't show up anywhere. But if you let your types inherit from cm:folder they will show up in the document library and you will be able to do all the stuff you ask for.

/Erik
