Unable to delete Site

Hello,

this is an invalid action you're trying to perform, which fortunately Alfresco 4 now forbids even when logged in as Admin. You need to use Share to delete sites.

Ok. Definately good. The [Delete] button does not appear but for a very few sites, even after joining myself to ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS. The docs seem to indicate that this is the only way to delete sites in Share.

Any ideas?

Ok. Definately good. The [Delete] button does not appear but for a very few sites, even after joining myself to ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS. The docs seem to indicate that this is the only way to delete sites in Share.

To clarify: I do not see the "Delete" button when logged in as "admin" or as my normal user, which I added to ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS.

Hello,

unfortunately, you did not state where you tried to delete sites in Share. You need to use either the "My Sites" dashlet or the "Site Search" page in order to have access to the proper delete action (it is NOT available in repository view). And ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS has not a lot to do with it - you need to be SiteManager to delete a site. ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS by default are not SiteManager, but they can add themselves as members (I believe to SiteManager role directly) now in 4.0.1

I guess I didn't. I cannot delte the site under share. The "Delete" button is absent both in the "My Sites" dashlet and "Site Search" results page.

I haven't yet figured out how to do this no mater who I log in as. I can Join a site, but am automatically added as a Collaborator. I can add myself to the site via Explorer, but that doesn't seem to be reflected when I use Share (operator error, I'm sure!)

So, would an upgrade allow me to do as I describe, assuming I'm admin or a member of ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS? With 4.0.1 can I add myself and make myself a Manager of the site all within Share?

The site *owner* and creator, who is a Site Manager and doesn't even know about the existence of Explorer originally made the complaint about not being able to delete the site. I said "he gets an error", so I assume the Delete button is present for him. He's probably having a different issue and I will create a separate thread for that if I can't figure it out and it's not fixed by 4.0.1.

Hello,

the simplest way to do this then would be to have the manager who sent the complaint add you as the support / administrator as manager. No need to upgrade or do fancy stuff in this case.

I have logged in as Admin into alfresco and can find the site with the site finder. However I only have the option to Join the site. I don't see a delete button.

Having the site manager promote me to site manager allowed me to delete the site.

Hi, I am having a different problem with deleting a site. I mistakenly imported a whole site in Explorer, and noticing the imported site is not searchable or showing up in share, I realized importing a whole site wouldn't work. So I tried to delete it, it then gives me the same error as what the owner of this thread has posted…. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
