Hi there
I'm involved in a new project and we are evaluating the possibility to complete substitute our database and relay in Alfresco for saving all out entities, using it as a query environment.
For example, we would create custom entities like cars, car parts, users…. then we would like to make queries like give me all the car parts related to the user x. We would use this approach for everything, even for entities with no files involved.

What do you think? Is it feasible? Will I be able to substitute all my normal SQL queries for Cmis queries or Xpath ones?. Will I run into performance issues if I have a lot of entity types and joins?

Thanks a lot in advance for your response.

It may work depending upon your use cases. However Alfresco wants to manage "content", does your solution involve managing content.

One fly in the ointment is that JOIN is not (yet?) supported.

Thanks for the quick replay, actually it would hold some content sometimes, but we wouldn't be mainly using it for that, we would mainly be using it to store properties.
