      <description>I know this is probably not new, but I am a newbie on Alfresco.Is it possible to have Alfresco Document Library point to a Shared folder on a Windows Server.&amp;nbsp; I would remote users to gain access to the public folder on my Windows server through the Alfresco interface and still allow my local LAN use</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;No your local users cannot and should not access Alfresco's private filesystem directly since that would be bypassing things like alfresco security.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; You will need to change the drive mapping.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Alfresco's private filesystem can be on any network accessable filesystem.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;There's a configuration setting called "dir.root" that specifies&amp;nbsp; where alfresco stores its content and indexes.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;e.g.&amp;nbsp; dir.root=/srv/alfresco/data/live&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;There is also a finer grained control should you need it to store the content and indexes separately.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;dir.contentstore=${dir.root}/contentstore&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
