Creating site through Dashboard and by using Dashlets.

Dear All,In my attempts to create a site, I have found that I would have to configure my dashboard and select the appropriate dashlet. However, the list of available components [Configure Dashboard Wizard] does not include the one for creating site.This is a new install of Alfresco 4.0.2 Community E

Hello,

I do not know why you require this functionality to be available via the dashboard / a dashlet, but the dashlet "My Sites" should provide the necessary functionality via a link in its toolbar. Otherwise you could always create a new site via the Sites menu in the global toolbar.

Thank you for your response.

My point was, or still is, there is nothing by the name of "My Sites" which shows up on the toolbar.

Only hours ago, I discovered that I was typing in an url: …:8080/alfresco instead of: …:8080/share.

Can you please help me understand why this difference in urls would result in the dashboard looks being dissimilar?

Hello,

/alfresco is the path to the Alfresco Content Repository and its UI, the Alfresco Explorer. The Alfresco Explorer is "the old" UI and - today - rarely used in new projects / use cases. /share points to the Alfresco Share UI for DMS and team collaboration. This is the main UI used nowadays, and the only UI that supports the concept of a site (Alfresco Explorer knows nothing of that sort).

What you are searching for can only be found in /share
