MySQL connection errors after migration

Hello,I have a 3.4a version of alfresco on my test machine working correctly. Now I'm trying to migrate that test machine and the stuff seems to work, but I have some mysql connection problemsI tested the mysql connection and the database - when I poll it from a test jsp page, I can open the databas

It is because your one of the mysql instance is already running and during startup alfresco try to acquire the connection which is already preoccupied by that instance.
So, make sure none of the mysql process is running before your alfresco starts.
Also it takes some time for mysql to release the connection so in case you are restarting the alfresco server wait for some seconds before starting it again.

But there's nothing else running. One thing I noticed: on my old server, tomcat deploys /alfresco context first, and when it's done, /share. In this instance, it first boots /share and then tries to start alfresco.
Could that be it? How can I change those?

mysqladmin processlist shows nothing. mysql.log (enabled) shows no connections or queries at all. How can I make sure that no mysql processes are running?

IF you have windows then you can check the list of running processes from the task manager.
Unix some command don't know
But if you find it running kill it and try to start the alfresco again.

Also you have changed the mysql drivers try putting back to default one.

You mean the actual mysql server? Yes, it's running, but it's independant. Tomcat isn't in charge of running it - it works well on both old and new server.

Well, the problem was something quite simple.

I rsynced the webapps and tomcat folders to a new server (since both had the same setup and all). But I accidentally made a copy of an old 'shared' folder, which had an old, unused reference to the database. And all the time I was editing the shared/classes/alfresco-global.properties, I was actually outside of the classpath.

So alfresco was still trying to connect to some old db server.

Found it when I tried to download a fresh install and simlink it to my tomcat directory
