    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;BLOCKQUOTE class="jive-quote"&gt;Yes it may "mess up" the index if you backup while lucene is running.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; You probably won't get a consistent copy on your backup media since the data will be changing during the time it takes to backup.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The rule of thumb is that lucene has exclusive access to its live files and nothing should interfere.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can create a "backup index" from a running instance and that is a static snapshot.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; There's a nightly job that does this so your backup HDD should have the most recent backup index.&lt;/BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;let know if I m correct: Lucene has a nigthly job that create it's own "backup index", so if I do the full hdd backup that hdd backup should contain the actual files, actual running index, and the backup index? so theoretically if something goes wrong, after I restore the hdd, alfresco may be messed up, but I should be able to delete the mess one, and use the backup index and files to restore it to a static snapshot?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;thanks&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>HiI have read the backup and restore article from afrescowiki. my question is, if my server do full hdd backup to other hdd everyday and then when someday I do full&amp;nbsp; hdd restore will it mess the Lucene index?or I have to the "hot backup" first then backup the hdd?thanks</description>
