I'm using 4.0d on CentOS. I have a site created and have uploaded a document to the site. How do I get a publicly accessible direct link to this document so that the user of this link does not have to authenticate to the share or site or be a member of the site. If you go to the detail page of document.
There will be a property called view in browser that is nothing but the link which you are looking for.

If you pest that one directly in the browser it will open up the document.
Provided it is public.

I have tried the 'view in browser' link but it asks for a username and password. The site is configured as a public site. How do I configure the document as public?

Yes, I have also checked that.
It is always asking for the username password.
So, the only solution I see is to use SSO,So that once user is authenticated as guest it will not ask for anything else.

What do you mean by "login as guest"? Do guest people has to enter something like "guest" as login?
I have the same problem, I want to give direct access to a file wich is in the "public folder" to guests, such as a link in a mail.

Hi guys, we are working on creating just this solution. There is however nothing available on HEAD or in any release at the moment.
The solution we are working on goes by the name of "quickshare" (if you want to look for HEAD checkins) the first version will allow you to "share" a document meaning you will get url to a public page just containing a header and the previewer component that won't require the user to login. The url will look like something like this: http://yourserver.com/share/s/abc123def456ghi789. You can later also "unshare" a document meaning that the public page will display an not found page instead.

As Erik indicates it will be in included in the next Community and Enterprise releases. However, I'm sorry we can't commit to a specific date yet as we haven't finalised the release plan.
