Hello,

I'm trying to use CIFS to connect a remote directory on the alfresco repository. When alfresco starts the CIFS is launched, there is server is network with a name like servernameA. But impossible to connect to the directory \\servernameA\alfresco. Is there a special configuration to use in order to get CIFS working ?

Alfresco (version 3.4e) is running on windows 7. The client trying to connect is on windows 7 too.

Thanks for any ideas or hints.

Windows 7 is not a supported "server" O.S. for Alfresco.

The first problem is likely to be with NTLM authentication since by default Windows 7 insists on NTLMV2. There is a windows configuration setting you can tweak, but you may do well to steer clear of AD authentication.

And you will have problems with windows 7's own CIFS implementation on TCP interfering with what should be NETBIOS.
You can bodge a work around it by adding a dummy hosts entry to make the TCP lookup fail - but that's not something to be relied upon.
