Yes you can easily move your repository.

There's a property in alfresco-global.properties called dir.root that says where the repo is.

Shut down alfresco.
Copy the content.
Cange dir.root to point to the new location.
Start Alfresco.
After it starts up successfully, delete the old content.

As for the second part of your question - you need to give more details. For example which catalina files did you delete and how and where did you change a JSP?

Thanks for the quick answers!

I removed the entire Catalina folder and restarted Alfresco. Regarding the JSP, I edited the Login.jsp located under C:\Alfresco\tomcat\webapps\alfresco\jsp

I edited the line -> "<body bgcolor="#ffffff" style="background-image: url(<%=request.getContextPath()%>/images/logo/ic.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed">
" And "<img src='<%=request.getContextPath()%>/images/logo/ic.gif' width=300 height=53 alt="Alfresco" title="Alfresco">"

Substituted the PNG image with ic.gif.

You probably need to put tomcat into "development mode" to get it to reload your JSPs. You should turn that off for production.

Not sure what you mean by Development mode. Do I need to edit the WAR file?

Shouldnt this be a simple task? All I am trying to do is change the logo!

Now, I cam really in trouble. Edited the WAR file and tried deploying again. Now, not only has the logo still not changed, I cant login anymore. I get a message "The remote server may be unavailable or your authentication details have not been recognized." and in the log I see "WARN : org.alfresco.wcm.client.util.impl.GuestSessionFactoryImpl - WQS unable to connect to repository: Not Found"

Never thought changing a logo would give me so much headache

Any last ideas before I reintall everything? Still hv no clue on how to change the logo.

Haleluiah! Found the solution.

Other than editing JSP pages, the new logo should be placed under share\themes\default\images directory and voila..

Nothing like spending 5 hours to change a logo

please i have a problem when i change the root.dir it says no repository found so please can anyone help
i installed the alfresco in c:\Alfresco and want to change the root.dir form c:/alfresco/alf_data to g:/alfresco/af_data and i'm using community version 3.4 d

Thanks for your reply ,

i wanted to put all the data in a place where i can take a backup easily and i knew that the data are stored in database and in alf_data folder so i wanted to use mysql database and put the alf_data folder in another partition so i choose from the setup to use an existing database and gave it a name alfresco , at first gave me the error "to prevent memory leak the ThreadLocal has been forcibly removed " so i changed JAVA_OPTS in the setenv.bat in tomcat/bin to %JAVA_OTPS% -Xms256m -Xmx1024m -XXermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m and it worked fine till now
then i changed the root.dir in alfresco-global.properties to G:/alf_data so it created another folder there ( although there was a folder in C:/Alfreco/alf_data ) but said no repository found

so i unsistalled alfresco and did all what i did before but before startup tomcat i changed the root.dir = G:/alf_data in alfresco-global.properties and after start up folder was created but also it says no repository found

i wish you can help me and please tell me if there is anything wrong in what did

You need to copy the contents of your C:/Alfreco/alf_data to uour g:/alf_data

i unistalled alfresco and removed the database and installed every thing from the begining
i startup tomcat every thing is ok and the folder c:/Alfresco/alf_data is created then i took a copy of it and put it in g:/alf_data and change the dir.root=g:/alf_data
i stopped the community service and deleted the folder in c:/Alfresco/alf_data , when i click on tomcat startup at the end it gives me SEVERE: Coyote connector has not been started
eventhought it opens the http://localhost:8080/alfresco

so please can you help me fix this error

Why did you remove the database. You need the database and the content store.

i'm sorry for not being clear i removed the database and then created it again and for the content i deleted it after i pointed to the other directory ( g:/alf_data)
and for the error that appears when i click on the startup i let the server starts up automatically so when i restarted the server it opened automatically althought i didn't know the reason for the error from the start but it opened the url for alfresco

i'm really so grateful for your help

Hi All ,
I had installed alfresco trial version and it was working correctly then after restarting the computer the tomcat didn't want to open and it said that the java-home is not correct (although is was working before)so we changed it and worked fine but after a while (without changing mysql or the path of the alf_data )it says repository not found so i want to know where is the problem ,is it because the period of the trial version is finished or something else is wrong

Hi All,

we had repodrive on C:, but SSD was nearly full.
I wanted to change the repository drive to D:, described in forum.
But after that, we didn't reached alfresco anymore.
I made a rollback, changed repodrive to C:, but alfresco was still not reachable.

After we read some hints in forum, we
-recovered the database, it's up and running
-accessibly .post gres restored
-tomcat running

We followed the hints, but we couldn't login into alfresco.
I attached the logs.
