      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;not yet&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;but I did a&amp;nbsp; wrote a test jsp to test that tomcat could connect to the remote oracle database it worked after setting the classpath&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;However I have noticed there is a repository.properties file dor the alfresco application which still refers to mysql.&amp;nbsp; I wonder if this is overriding the properties in the alfresco-global.properties file&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Does this file need to be updated as well ? Are there any other files that need to be updated?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Does anyone else have experience of installing Alfresco against oracle?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Any help would be appreciated&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; :?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;sorry for the delay folks&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;success at last.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;i installed the trial version&amp;nbsp; of the zip file on an instance of tomcat 6.0.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;They were a few things I needed to do&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;As stated in the installation and configuration guide&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;ie copy the ojdbc14.jar file from&amp;nbsp; the installation direcory for oracle instant client to &amp;lt;TOMCAT HOME&amp;gt;/shared/lib directory&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Configure the alfresco-global.properties file and place it in the&amp;nbsp; &amp;lt;TOMCAT HOME&amp;gt;/shared/classes directory&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;similar to below:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.name=alfresco&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.username=alfresco&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.password=********&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.host=&amp;lt;ip address or name of server&amp;gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.port=&amp;lt;port the database listener listens on&amp;gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.driver=oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.url=jdbc&lt;img id="smileysurprised" class="emoticon emoticon-smileysurprised" src="https://connect.hyland.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.png" alt="Smiley Surprised" title="Smiley Surprised" /&gt;racle:thin:@&amp;lt;ip address or name of server&amp;gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;:&amp;lt;port the database listener listens on&amp;gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;:alfresco&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;db.pool.validate.query=SELECT 1 FROM SYS.DUAL&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;img.root=/ImageMagick&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;img.exe=/usr/local/bin/convert&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;swf.exe=/usr/local/bin/pdf2swf&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Ensure the file ojdbc.jar is owned by tomcat&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;ensure the path for the oracle driver jar file is on the classpath. I explicitly&amp;nbsp; set this via an environmental variable in a script I use to start apache tomcat and export it&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Ensure the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set to the location where oracle instant client is installed so the driver can find it's library&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Ensure the JAVA_HOME is set to jdk 1.6 &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Set the Java MaxPermSize to avoid Java Heap error&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Last word ensure pre-requisite software components listed in installation guide are installed&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;export JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -server"&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
