Where did Google Docs go?

I've installed Alfresco v4.0c on CentOS 6.2 x64 and everything works. But when I try to go to the admin-console in the menus there is no "Google Doc"-options. If I edit this file…/opt/alfresco-4.0.c/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/subsystems/googledocs/default/googledocs.properties‍

Odin,

If you look at the top of the documentation page for Google Docs you'll see an "Enterprise Only" indicator. That's because the Google Docs admin console item depends on JMX and JMX isn't included with Alfresco Community so those particular instructions only apply to Enterprise Edition.

That's also why you have to edit the properties file to enable Google Docs rather than doing it through the admin console without a restart.

The workflow console is missing from the Share admin console in Community Edition for the same reason. The workflow console doesn't depend directly on JMX but the way the admin console is built during our engineering process is somehow tangled up in that. We'd actually like to add the workflow console in to Community–I hope we get that done soon but I don't have a timeframe.

I'm not sure why you weren't able to edit your Google username in the profile. In my installs of both 4.0.c and 4.0.d I am able to set that property for both admin and non-admin users.

Hope that clears up the mystery.

I don't see anything on the page your link points to, that indicates this feature is an Enterprise feature. What does it look like, and has it been removed?

Whatever the case, I can't find anything in the Alfresco online documentation that instructs how to enable Google Docs sharing in the community edition (4.0.d). It used to be there. Do you have any instructions.

You are correct, this appears to have changed. I will file a docs bug.

To be clear, though, what we're talking about here is the presence of the Google Docs configuration panel in the Admin Console, not Google Docs integration in general.

Hi Jeff,

Just to let you and the OP know I've applied the Configuration section of that document to 4.0.e and it works just fine.
It does not appear to allow editing of current files, but it does allow a user to create content using Google Docs.

Also -

- is it possible to enable the Google Docs admin console item by installing/configuring JMX in 4.0.e CE?
