which version of alfresco you are using.
In case of trial version please make sure your license is not expire.
Check for all other operations like update create if you are not able to do any of this then it means license is expired.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The version we are using is 4.0. I can do other things like create and upload files and delete other files on there so it has to be something to do with the particular files that I am trying to delete.

Any further help would be much appreciated.

Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by log file, I don't know what that is. I am not a programmer or anything.
How do I get access to that?
