as far as i know, to use webdav over Win 7 there're those requeiremts:
- SSL
- a valid Certificate
- DigestMD5 Authenitfication
- probably much more.
Exact Specification? N/A

- so you would need to configure your Alfresco to meet those requierements,
according to some Jira-Tickets, upcoming Alfresco-verions should be able to handle this more conveniently…

anyone correct me if iam worng!

I'll come back to this thread most likely. I cannot get webdav working with Windows 7 currently. I couldn't get it working under Liferay either. I was hoping to get rid of Liferay's integrated document management and utilize Alfresco. I also hoped it would have better webdav support.

Just wanted to note, that while digest auth is required, that can be changed in W7 with a registry change outlined here: http://www.liferay.com/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/3987708

There is only two things you need to do to get Windows 7 to Webdav correctly.

One is the BasicAuth registry setting that has been mentioned multiple times..

The other is because Microsoft really can't decide whether or not to use UNC's or URL's… I can't stand UNC's… but I digress..

In the "Add A Network Location…" use an UNC… Works everytime if you are using standard SSL ports. (i.e. 443 for SSL).

So instead of https://somesite.com/alfresco/webdav/ use this instead:
\\somesite.com@SSL/alfresco/webdav/

As for Non-SSL, or other ports, no clue… don't use it…

Ya… I really wish they'd standardize ..

Cheers

For WebDavs via Port 8443 with an self signed certificate, the following did it for me.

1. Add the repo certificate to windows
- generate new ssl certificates with the script shipped by alfresco (see http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Alfresco_And_SOLR#Generating_new_SSL_certificates)
- take the ssl.repo.crt that is generated and import it to the “Trusted Root CA” storage of Windows by following these instructions

2a. Connect a network drive
- use the UNC

\\yourhost.com@SSL@8443\DavWWWRoot\alfresco\webdav‍

2b. Connect a network place (alternativ way, nearly the same comfort)
- follow this instructions to create a network place and use an URL like

https://yourhost.com:8443/alfresco/webdav‍

So, let me summarize.

As described in the blog of Thomas Mathiesen and this thread, with Win7 and WebDav we might face the following issues:
1. authentication
2. connection speed
3. self signed certificates
4. ssl port other than 443

The regarding solutions are:
1. change the registry
2. modify IE options
3. add the self signed certificate to windows (see above)
4. use e.g.

\\yourhost.com@SSL@8443\DavWWWRoot\alfresco\webdav‍

for port 8443

Lars, mthomas,

Thanks for solving two separate issues I have had been pulling my hair out for. First, Alfresco Enterprise support does not really have a solid 3rd party SSL Install Guide (why exactly?) so after you pound on Tomcat to get the certs installed right and Solr working on a new port, it still won't connect WebDAV without a registry hack, to which is just not possible in many corporate environments. With that WebDAV syntax, I was able to get in, and with the IE modification, I nearly doubled my transfer speeds. So, my question is (to anyone really), considering this is pretty standard functionality for an Enterprise DMS system, why is none of this in the 'official' Alfresco Documentation?
