Out-of-the-box, the RM module will not automatically transfer the necessary records to an external archive. Rather, it will help you track which records need to be transferred, where they need to be transferred to, and provide a set of audit controls to record that the transfer actually happened. This allows the organizational librarian to have complete oversight over the transfer process.

Transfer to archive in Alfresco RM work as follows:

* Setup the archive in the RM management console
Records Management Dashlet -> Management Console -> Tools-> List of Values -> Transfer Locations
Make sure the user who will be responsible for the transfer has access permissions.

* Add "transfer to archive" as one of the disposition rules
RM Site -> File Plan -> Series -> Category -> View Details

* When a record is due for transfer, an email notification will be sent out and the record will show up in the Transfers list
RM Site -> File Plan -> Transfers
It can then be downloaded as a zip file and marked as transferred in the system.

There are other ways to perform similar functionality.
