Hi Folks,Here is a description of my problem, step-wise:- Was running Alfresco community 3.3- One day someone tells me that they cannot log in to share- I check the main client and receive the dreaded "404" error- I decide it's apt time to install 3.4b- Back up sql via "mysqldump -u root -p –add-dro

Have you verified your environment with a fresh repository (drop you restored db and alf_data)?
If not, do that first so that you have verified your environment is correct, then reload your old data.

After that, double check
-database name, user
-file permissions for the user running alfresco tomcat
-try to delete the old index, so that a new index is created.

You may want to try 3.4.c. No need to run the installer again, just grab alfresco.war and share.war from http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Community_file_list_3.4.c from alfresco-community-3.4.c.zip. Remember to delete all alfresco stuff in tomcat/webapps.

Solved the problem. All was needed was a rebuild of the index.

For those who visit this thread for a solution, edit

/tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco-global.properties‍

and add the following line:

index.recovery.mode=FULL‍

then start alfresco, and you can watch the index rebuild progress by doing:

tail -f <alfresco_root>/alfresco.log ‍
