You can try to use the fully qualified name (ie {http://www.mysite.nl/model/content/1.0} rather then bla in your calls. I think only the core alfresco properties are accessible in this fashion.

Well silly me.
It seemed that due to this test/simple code without checks caused this issue. We had some test data that was being retrieved in Alfresco that had some empty fields in its applied aspects (thus returning null) :roll:
