Sorry guys.
I wrote the instructions in the wiki for Ubuntu.

I have not tried to install 3.2GA on Ubuntu yet.
The version of instructions for Ubuntu was for version 3.0 or 3.1.
I am reading that there are changes in the config files.
Its looking like Alfreco is centralizing the config files into one location.
I am reading that changing the database config is now a different place and that there is a method for changing or customizing the config file.

I might get an update in about a month.

Cheers

Okay, I have since managed to get Alfresco labs 3.2 Community Edition installed on two different Ubuntu 9.04 systems -
one system running graphical (Ubuntu-Desktop) and one just running headless server (Ubuntu-Server).
Initially I tried the "Alfresco Labs Stable 3" version - not so good…
make sure you get the latest version (3.2) from the Alfresco download area
this version seems to have a better/fixed installer script.

There are several tricks which may be obvious to experienced Alfresco admins,
but seem to trip up newbies like myself.

1) DON"T preinstall Tomcat server - let the Alfresco installation script do this.
Otherwise you will get port conflicts and other issues…

2) I did select to pre-install "LAMP" (Apache2, MySQL, Php), and Samba in the Ubuntu Install.

3) Make sure to edit the /opt/Alfresco/tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco-global.properties
before you startup Alfresco to change/correct the paths to openoffice, pdf2swf, etc.
just do a "which soffice", or "which pdf2swf" to find the actual path on your machine.

4) Make sure you wait long enough after starting with "/opt/Alfresco/alfresco.sh start"
it may be a few minutes before everything is running.
make sure that you check /opt/Alfresco/alfresco.log file for errors.

I am quite pleased with how well Alfresco runs even on my old AMD Athlon 2600 test box.
Once I get the detailed instructions written up, I will post them.
Right now, I am working on getting Alfresco authentication bound to my Win2k3 PDC -
that area of the Howto REALLY needs some work, as I not found a working recipe for that yet.
If anyone has - please post a link to it here…

thanks,
  mox

Alfresco 3.2 is now added to the "partner" reopositories of Ubuntu 9.04, so with a simple "aptitude install alfresco-community" you can now install alfresco.

I did this, and it almost worked . You have to be carefulll NOT to have OpenJDK installed, that will mess up some javascript parsing things in Share. After making sun's java default, it just workes, making use of all the standard packages in ubuntu, and file locations.

I say give it a try
