FileNet P8 CM V5.0 was released Nov 19th 2010 and officially supports CMIS.

So FileNet P8 customers can now use the Open Source OpenWorkdesk Community Edition as an alternative to expensive custom code developments to fulfill the requirements regarding an ergonomic UI of their business applications.

Stefan,

I'm just installing-configuring CMIS for FileNet P8 5.1 which is deployed in a WAS 7.0 app server and REALLY anxious to test OpenWorkDesk.

I understand OpenWorkDesk must be installed in Apache Tomcat.

I have no clue hot to configure OpenWorkDesk to use P8 CMIS, is there a guide or any kind of documentation for it?

please get the latest version of the OpenWorkdesk installation guide from http://openworkdesk.org/content/guides There you find a detailed description of how to deploy and configure OpenWorkdesk, select the correct adapter and where to enter the connection data.

the OpenWorkdesk Installation Guide should be a good starting point to get a clue how to configure the CMIS adapter of OpenWorkdesk in general. There is no in-depth documentation for P8 CMIS as OpenWorkdesk Enterprise Edition has a native P8 adapter and as we can´t describe configuration for every CMIS compliant repository.

What you need to configure is the file owbootstrap.xml under WEB-INF/conf/cmis and change the <WSDL> nodes like in the following example:

I was about to clarify that I was not going to use P8 adaptor, but CMIS.

Found the owbootstrap.xml in page 33 of the manual and I was about to start playing with the parameters.

Ok, a couple of questions.

I need to also comment out Alfresco cloud, correct?

Alfresco local has "/RepositoryService?wsdl</WSDLRepository>" instead of "/wsdl</WSDLRepository". Shall I change to this format?

How is authentication handled? I login with a P8 user credentials? Is there something I have to configure for LDAP security?

if you want test OpenWorkdesk against P8 you can also get a 30 day test version of the full fledged Enterprise Edition, that connects to P8 5.x via a brand new native adapter and besides the content integration also supports P8 BPM. There is also a test version of Zero-Install Desktop Integration available. Just go to http://www.wewebu.com/en/try-openworkdesk in order to apply for the test licenses.
