topic Inbound Email Situation in Alfresco Archive

I was wondering if the following situation is possible in Alfresco:

1) Email a document to an email account on the company email server (already exists)
2) Alfresco (on another server/location) checks this email account and imports any emails/attachements to this account into a space in alfresco

We have a situation where we want to split the location of the alfresco server and the email server, where the email server is one that is already established (ms exchange, scalix, etc.)

I know that Alfresco has its own inbound email server. We can't use the In-Process Email Server because this runs the email server on the same server as alfresco, which isn't the case above. The Remote Email Server option may be what I'm referring to but there is a lack of documentation on its implementation and configuration so I'm not sure if this is the case.

Any guiding help would be helpful. Thanks.

This is not an alfresco issue. It is configuration of your email server.
