Inbound storage mail

Hi,I look for store my mail (myuser@gmail.com) into Alfresco space…I have read the wiki but with no results.I can send email with my account gmail, but I can't store my inbound mail into an Alfresco space…CAN YOU HELP ME?This is my email configuration:For send (IT WORKS FINE)mail.host=smtp.gmail.com

OK,
this my configuration of custom-email-server.properties

email.inbound.enabled=true
email.inbound.unknownUser=anonymous
email.server.enabled=true

email.server.port=25252
email.server.domain=mydomain.it

email.server.allowed.senders=.*
email.server.blocked.senders=
‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

now I don't receive any error when I send from my gmail account to mydomain.it into Alfresco…

BUT
I can't see the e-mail into Alfresco…
Why?

Firstly, please stop bumping your own topic - it's very annoying and is not going to get your problem answered any quicker.

Secondly, make sure your e-mail recipient (the part before the @) matches an Alfresco username who is a member of the EMAIL_CONTRIBUTORS group.

Sorry, but I thinks that's is better than open a new post for the same things…

For this I don't have understand…In the part before the @ I don't must to put the email alias that I've added to a space?
My configuration is the same…

email.inbound.enabled=true
email.inbound.unknownUser=anonymous
email.server.enabled=true

email.server.port=25252
email.server.domain=mydomain.it

email.server.allowed.senders=.*
email.server.blocked.senders=‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

In the Email-contributor group I've three user…
1) admin
2) proto
3) anonymous

And after I've set in a space the email alias = proto

So when I enter in my gmail account for send a email I put in the TO label this: "proto@mydomain.it"
But after few minutes I receive this response to the message:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    proto@mydomain.it

Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 No Such User Here (state 14).‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

So into my space with the mail alias I found nothing…

In your posted configuration, you have:

email.server.domain=mydomain.it

Is this actually what your configuration says, or have you changed it to protect your privacy? It may be stating the obvious, but you need to be sure that whatever mail configuration you set up can be reached from Google (it's a valid domain owned by you, with an MX record configured correctly to make sure email goes to the Alfresco server, and firewalls and routers will allow SMTP traffic to that machine).

Have you tested things locally? Use a local mail client (a UNIX command line mail program such as sendEmail would work) to try and send an email into Alfresco. You should be able to specify the Alfresco server directly (as the SMTP server), so you can test that the Alfresco side works before checking that routing over the internet works.

e.g., if you have sendEmail installed on the Alfresco server, configuration similar to the following might work (I haven't tested this):

sendEmail -s localhost:25252 -u Test -m Hello -f proto@mydomain.it -t proto@mydomain.it

Thanks for the response.
I don't understand what you want to say.
I don't test it in localhost.
I'm not able to use the sendmail function…
But also if I put this line:

email.server.domain=gmail.com

and set an email alias to space with the name of my gmail user account, I can't store the mail into the space…

In which case it's not going to work.

If you send something to @gmail.com then the email will go to Google's email server. Likewise, anything to "mydomain.it" will go to someone else's mail server, and since they don't have a proto user, you get the user not valid error that Google gave you.

If you want Alfresco to receive email from the outside world (e.g., from Google), then you need your own domain with email routing set up correctly. This is all outside the scope of Alfresco configuration, and can be quite complex if you haven't done it before.

You should be able to send email from Alfresco (and it looks like you have settings for Google's SMTP server in your configuration), but receiving is a lot more complex.

If you can test it, and get it working, locally, then you might be able to download email from a local client (such as a POP client reading from Google) and forward it to Alfresco.

I also read this http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Inbound_Email_Server_Configuration before post this topic,
and it says that for send email to alfresco it's possible…

AND IF I WANT USE THE DOMAIN EXPLAIN IN THE LINK OF THE WIKI (ALFRESCO.COM), HOW MUST I DO TO CONFIGURE ALL?

FOR ME IT'S NOT IMPORTANT TO STORE THE EMAIL OF MY GMAIL ACCOUNT ON ALFRESCO, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT I CAN SEND I MAIL TO ALFRESCO FROM OTHERS ACCOUNT MAIL ON THE WEB…

Firstly, please don't shout. Using all caps is difficult to read.

What you want to do is possible, but it requires setting up your network to receive email and it's got nothing to do with Alfresco. I don't know whether you are a single user, or part of a large organisation, and that changes what you need to do. If the former, you may need to change ISP since most don't allow it. If part of an organisation, then you need to talk to the network administrators of your organisation since only they will be able to do what needs to be done.

Basically, you need to read up on how to configure your network for an email server, or find someone in your organisation who knows. In your case, your email server will just happen to be Alfresco. It does require very specific knowledge of your network setup however.

I'm a single user, I'm testing Alfresco with advanced workflows, and my ideas is that I want to create a workflow that read data from email.
To do that I think that I must to store the email into Alfresco, so I can start workflow with the data stored in Alfresco from mail…

So, if this operation it's more complex, I don't understand because in the wiki say it more simply (or only for me?)…

It's simple to set up Alfresco to receive email. It's simple to test this locally (e.g., my sendEmail script above, or you can try connecting directly to the SMTP port using telnet ("telnet localhost 25252") to see if you get a response).

What you're talking about is routing email from the outside world into your local server, and that is where it gets complex because it requires network configuration. It's like setting up Alfresco to be accessible from the outside world is more complex than setting it up to run on your local machine, because you need to setup public DNS entries so random machines on the internet can find your server.

Hi

I have been able to make alfresco accessible from outside my local network. i mean I have a domain and i have beet able to make it point to alfresco. Inbound emails are working fine from local network. I am able to send mails inside alfresco with sendEmail -s mydomain.com:110 -u test -m test mail -f myemail@gmail.com -t 425@mydomain.com it shows up on the node with doid 425. The problem is when i am trying to send emails using gmail with the address 425@mydomain.com, gmail sends the email but it does not show up on my in the node 425. It have been a few hours and gmail did not give me any mail delivery failure.

These are the steps i followed

1) set public port on router 110 to 2525 (2525 is the port for inbound email server on alfresco)
I can telnet into mydomain.com 110 so i think this is working fine
2) added myself in email contributers group so that the my email addres in there my username matches with the part before @ in the email address.

if anybody can help me to get this problem fixed I will be really grateful.

Use port 25 instead of 110. Port 25 is the default SMTP port e.g. port that google tries to connect to when sending you the email.
