Hi guys,
my company has a lot of GB of documents on Alfresco 3. They are thinking to upgrade to Alfresco 3.3. Is it possible to do it with a backup from Alfresco 3 and a restore in Alfresco 3.3 without losing any document or lucene index?

what are the improvements from Alfresco 3 to Alfresco 3.3?

Thanks a lot

Hi,

All about 3.3 can be found here http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Alfresco_Community_Edition_3.3
If you are on Community 3.0, I think you will find it worth the effort. Especially the Share client has taken huge steps forward.

For upgrade, check http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/General_Upgrade_Process
So yes, you should take a backup and restore that and try the upgrade on a separate server. Take a backup from your daily backup, in that way you can verify that you backup procedures work. And of course a backup right before you do the production upgrade.
