Hi together,in the past few days I tried about 5 different DMS and get back again at Alfresco.Perhaps you can help me and answer my questions.We are looking for a simple dokucument management system, where documents can easily be uploaded (DOC, PDF, Tif) and search the content in the documents.I ins

1) Is it possible to search my documents in the Alfesco-database through my office-application or do I have to search through the Internet Explorer?   I believe so although I've not done it myself.
2) Is ist possible to upload several documents at once ?   Yes it is possible.   However out of the box only one document can be uploaded at a time.
3) What system requirements do I need for my server, to have fast search results through ~1000 documents each with 100 pages. Can I use normal servers?    Depends on what you mean by "normal servers" but my laptop would do that.   What is more of a limiting factor is the number of concurrent users.
4) Can Alfresco bei installed from typical IT-administrator or do I need for a profesional company?   Someone that knows what they are doing is best.    So an alfresco partner.   But anyone should be able to install it.
5) Is there any OCR possibility?   Yes.   The Enterprise release has a kofax extension.
6) Are there any clients avaible, so the users get the search result/upload documents without the need to login via the browser?     I'm sure there are but the alfresco provided clients are browser based.     You can also create your own front end for alfresco.
