Hi,
Yes, you have a database connectivity issue. Make sure that the database URL you are using is correct (check your alfresco-global.properties) and that the database user has permission to connect from the client to the database host.

Thanks for the quick reply, just to be sure. It's the file located in c:\Alfresco\tomcat\shared\classes\alfresco-global.properties.

The file contains:

Now logging in using HeidiSql as a client on 127.0.0.1 port 3306 with the alfresco/XXXXX combination gives me an empty alfresco database. Is there anything in my properties that needs changing or can i rule out the database issue.

java.net.SocketException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

You definitely have a connection problem. Usually just some config problem, but I really can't see what it is. You say that the server and the databas are local to each other and that you can login using a different client with the same credentials from the same server … are you sure that you're using port 3306 and have you tried using the IP address instead of localhost?

After following your suggestion and changing the java db connection string from localhost to 127.0.0.1 i get a populated database, an alf_data folder and a working /alfresco console.
However the /share still gives me the "server unreachable or login details…" error. I tried creating a new user in /alfresco but wasn't able to log into /share.

My log files has the following errors:

Which as i've read on the forum is because i havn't installed open office and it uses that for the pdf conversion but is in theory not a big deal.

The connection from Alfresco Share to Alfresco Explorer is via a URL that is using localhost as well. Change that, or fix your localhost-IP mapping.
