Hi,

Is there any way to make a document or folder "read-only", similar to how this can be done in Windows XP?

For example, we have a file for our letterhead that users open when they want to type a letter. If a user accidentally chooses "Save" instead of "Save As", then the canonical letterhead document has accidentally been modified.

Perhaps this could be accomplished by requiring a check-out/check-in to modify?

I'm an Alfresco noob and I've got no clue how to approach this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

go to the details-page of the folder or file in alfresco web client. In the column on the right you'll find 'Manage Space Users'. With this tool you can give users and usergroups different roles. The consumer role makes a document of folder read-only.

Kind regards
Mieke
