Thanks a lot for article! There is small correction.

Following is not required:
- img.exe=${img.root}/bin/convert
+ img.exe=/usr/local/bin/convert

This is because of:
ln -s /usr/bin/convert .convert.bin

However, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX files were not being thumbnailed and would not show up in the previewer.

The solution was to make a change to the alfresco-global.properties for the "img.root" path
from: img.root=/opt/alfresco34a/common
to : img.root=/usr

After this change the previewer and thumbnails are working.
