Can't check out documents under Sites using Explorer/CIFS

After upgrading to version 3.2r2 we lost the ability to check out documents in document libraries using Alfresco Explorer or CIFS. Can someone please confirm this behaviour or if this is a bug? I did some major digging and conclusion was that:
1. I can't delete the file because it has an associated working copy
2. This working copy, as far as I could tell by digging even directly into database, does not exist.
3. You can do everything on file - copy, move, edit-online through share - except delete file or checkout file through CIFS or Alfresco Explorer

Resolved the issue by creating a new copy of the file, moving the original out of the way in some obsolete space, and putting back the copy in its original location and now everything works.

Conclusion is that there is definitely something wrong here but no idea what or how to reproduce it…

I am also getting this error. The workaround of creating a copy and replacing it with original won't do because the version history will be lost.

I am using Alfresco Enterprise 3.2.2.1 and used the Alfresco's CheckOutCheckInService to checkin and checkout documents. It seems to happen at random.
