This may work.

Instead of adding an aspect, you can of course remove it.
Add a test in there to make sure it you just update excel documents.

I suggest you run in batches by starting in lower lever folders.
And, most important, try in a test environment first!

If it all works well (or not), please report back, I've tried this on smaller repositories only, so any feedback on how feasible it is for larger repos is welcome.
