Hi All,Running Alfresco 3.2 Community on Win XP.Looking, but haven't found any documentation, to configure Alfresco to mount/connect to another repository via WebDav. I am open to connect using other protocols (CIFS, FTP, etc.). My goal is to connect to ext repository to see if I can use Alfresco to

Nope you can't do this. Alfresco **IS** the repository.

Not clear on what exactly I can't do.

1) Can I simply connect to a external repository via any protocol? I recall seeing external repositories being used in the Alfresco architecture ( Alfresco Overview ).

2) If I can connect, you're saying I can't use the meta-data capability?

3) What's the value of external repositories if I'm not able to add meta-data?

What do you mean by "external repositories"? Do you have any specific examples?

Example: Windows file share, Sharepoint repository.

Any JCR-Compliant repository … is it possible?

While you can use a network mounted filesystem for Alfresco's content store, I don't think that's what you are asking. You can also expose the alfresco repository as a file system, but again that's not what you are asking.

Maybe one day in the future you may be able to get bits of the various alfresco client applications to run against other CMIS repositories. But that's a different discussion than getting the alfresco repository to pass through to another repository implementation. I repeat, you can't get Alfresco to connect to "another" repository. Alfresco **is** the repository.
