First thing last - a cutoff of a folder by implication always closes a folder for further filing.

Completion of the event will make the folder (assuming that its a folder level disposition - somthing to check) eligible for cutoff. This is easy to see because the cutoff action becomes available on the folder. You can then cutoff the folder manually.

Cutoff is the only action which is automated by default, but the process which does this is asynchronous and runs infrequently. (Sorry can't remember the frequency so will have to check). I suspect that this is the behaviour you are seeing where sometimes the cutoff appears to happen almost straight away and other times it does not.

Lastest GA of Alfresco and RM.I have a basic Series/Category with a simple one step Disposition based on an Event. So, When I click on View Details I would Click the button for Complete Event - which claims to run by the message. It should also cut off the folder by placing the red icon with the bar
