You can hide it complete pre-3.4 using the following custom config:

<alfresco-config>

   <!– Repository Library config section –>
   <config evaluator="string-compare" condition="RepositoryLibrary">
      <!–
         Whether the link to the Repository Library appears in the header component or not.
      –>
      <visible>false</visible>
   </config>

</alfresco-config>‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Note the URL /share/page/repository will still work, but it won't be visible.

In 3.4 you can simply add permission="admin" to the header item via custom config.

I know the share config file.

But I Need the Button to be visible for Admin Users only!

Your Workaround hides the Button for every User on the System.
I use it for setting permissions on the Folders and Documents.

Yeah, that might be the easiest way to achiev this goal?

But isn't there any other way.
Like the Same way, the Admin console Button is hidden for non admin?

Sure, take a look inside header.get.html.ftl for the user.isAdmin check.

Okay, thanks Mike. That worked!
I set the repository to true. Then I limited the access for admins only in the Header.get.html.ftl file

I figured out how to hide the repository link from non-admin users

open this file

/opt/alfresco/tomcat/webapps/share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/share-config.xml

find this line within the <header> tags
<item type="link" id="repository">/repository</item>

Change to
<item type="link" id="repository" permission="admin">/repository</item>

Reload Alfresco. now only admin users will see that link

Ok so that little fix only hides the link you can still get to the repository even if your a non-admin by simply typing in

http://myserver:8080/share/page/repository

How do you limit access to the repository? What's the point of all the permisioning and role setting if everyone can just view the whole repository!

Can anyone help me out with this?

The original question was "hide" not "prevent access to".

To do that you can override the site-data/pages/repository.xml definition to change the authentication to "admin".

I guess the <header> tags in "share-config.xml" only appear in the 3.4.c version. There are no header tags in my 3.3 version. Is there a way to add a whole "header" section and make it work like in 3.4.c?

Hi,

I want to hide and prevent access to non Admin users to Repository label from header.
I am working on imported share.war file in eclipse and using Alfresco 4.0.d. SO please suggest me the proper steps asap.

Open Share-config.xml file and locate the following line.

 <item type="link" id="repository" condition="conditionRepositoryRootNode" permission="admin">/repository</item> ‍

Add permission="admin" attribute to it.

 <item type="link" id="repository" condition="conditionRepositoryRootNode" permission="admin">/repository</item>

The best way is to edit the share-config-custom.xml file.
