You will have to know or let everyone know what you are trying to build - Document management or Web Content Management etc., Know your requirements first!

Once you decide that, I guess it should be an easy road after little bit of planning and then by installing Alfresco and reading through the Wiki/Forums or going through recommended books on Alfresco (if needed) - and start configuring, customizing and extending Alfresco.

Well - I guess your question is very broad. It would be better if it was a specific question!

I have to develop one portal which should have good look and feel as well as CMS. So, please suggest me which one is best solution for that.
Only Alfresco or Alfresco with Liferay.

As you guessed - you have couple of options -

You can just go with Alfresco, which has Alfresco Share also working on top of it. Alfresco Share has lot of features which might match your requirements. Share provides a team collaboration environment (Wiki, Blog, Discussion, Document Library and Dashboard) with dashboard features which also includes customizable and configurable dashlets (like portlets in Portal). However, you will have to define your requirements further more to see if Share will exactly match your requirements.

If you ask me - you can definitely achieve or extend Share to match whatever you could do in a Portal (any portal for that matter).

Other alternative is Alfresco and Liferay (or JBoss) Portal. Hope this helps!

I want to develop a CMS solution which will have a Discussion board.

1. How can we create a webproject?
2. which book will give me full information about Alfresco like how can we create a new webproject as well as CMS solution for Dashboard?
3. What are things required to create a project?

i dont know how to start? and also not getting appropreate information to develop.

Please suggest me step by step process / link.
