Hi!

I am working myself through the Alfresco developer guide, and I tried to create my hello world web script according to the book, but I really found a blocker:

The Developer Guide says "Navigate to |Company Home|Data Dictionary|Web Scripts Extensions".
Now the problem is that I don't have such a space in the Data Dictionary, and when I try to create one, it automatically adds it to the Space Templates space. I also tried to use the Scripts space, but my web script wasn't found.

I am using Alfresco Labs 3.2 Preview, but I also tried 3.1 stable. I don't know what version the Dev guide was written for, but it doesn't seem actual right now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello -

I assume that you are talking about Jeff Pott's book, Alfresco Developer Guide. While Jeff's book is a great way to learn developer basics, you may also want to look at the Alfresco doc (Alfresco2_0_Getting_Started_Guide.pdf) that talks about creating folders, you can find it in the Documentation space in http://share.alfresoc.com, you can get to it directly using this link http://share.alfresco.com/share/proxy/alfresco-feed/api/node/content/workspace/SpacesStore/738f7371-9ee6-47ef-8c44-420402f37f7a/Alfresco2_0_Getting_Started_Guide.pdf.

Hope that helps,

Nancy

Do you have Company Home|Data Dictionary|Web Scripts space?
You can place your web scripts there, too.

Also, scripts that you place under Company Home|Data Dictionary | Scripts are available to be run as a rule later.
Try adding a rule to a space or to a content, and your options will be scripts in that space.

Cheers,
Ivan.
