i agree with the promising project. i don't agree with us cancelling end user support. if forums are necessary to deliver that, then we'll keep em. there are a few downsides to these forums:
* user accounts are not unified with codehaus user accounts
* phpBB doesn't seem to support that content of posts is included into the notifications
* we can't reply offline

nothing really blocking, but it's at least not convenient. others have mentioned preference of forums over mailing lists as well. it's good that we hear this feedback. we'll decide on our community meeting in stuttgart next week.

if you know and post here how we could configure our phpBB to allow for the message content to be included in the notifications, that would be awsome. we would be eternally greatful 🙂

Hi Tom,
Mailing Lists are outdated since years. I think the current usage of the forum (user + dev forum) shows, that its needed. As there is no alternative on Codehouse we should keep the forum as it is.

The argument, that it is not integrated into codehouse is valid but I think we can stand it. I dont think that email notification is that important. One of the the biggest value is that you good search and browsing capabilites and that it is very easy to post.

Maybe we can ask codehouse to host a forum.

Best regards
Stefan

My vote is also for keeping the forum. There is no comparison in ease of use between one and the other. A nice user interface always helps.

Regards,
Alberto

I also vote for keeping the forum, but notifications would also be nice. I found some post on the phpBB forum about notification mods.

We could check those next week in stuttgart!?

Best regards,
Christian
