Hello,I use Alfresco to store PDFs. My disk space is used by 40% with exe (_CheckInOut.exe et _ShowDetails.exe) and by 60% PDFs.How can I disable (and remove) the _CheckInOut.exe et _ShowDetails.exe in any directories ?Is it normal that they take place in the alf_data ? They should only exist virtually in CIFS as you are saying. How did you verify that they exist physically in alf_data as well? If you navigate your tree structure using the Node browser in Alfresco Explorer administration console, are they present then?

Comment out the desktop actions you do not require in the configuration. See http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/File_Server_Subsystem#Desktop_Actions.

I am not sure that the _CheckInOut.exe et _ShowDetails.exe are in the alf_data. I just notice that my data are store like this :

With the CIFS, I can see : 12 GB (Alfresco directory) (with 60% PDF and 40% exe). (I mount a share and use a software which do some statistics)
On the server the alf_data 13GB. (with the command "du")

If I navigate with the Alfresco Explorer, the files (_CheckInOut.exe et _ShowDetails.exe) do not exist.

Then they only exists virtually, so you need not to worry about them taking up any space. Follow Zaizi's advice if you don not want them to display.

If you do file statistics from you client on the CIFS mount, then yes it will report those file as being present, and of a certain size, but as said, they only exist virtually. The size on the server side is not only for your PDFs, but also for any version of those PDFs, and thumbnails and previews created (if you used the Share client to browse them). And in alf_data you also have the index stored (unless you specifically put it elsewhere). So it will be larger disk usage compared to only PDF total size in CIFS.

I use Alfresco to store only PDF's (invoices comming from Scanner in 200 DPI, OCR) and without versionning. The Alfresco Share is not used.

Using a network share with the Software "TreeSize pro" I found 8 GB for PDF's.

The alf_data has 14 GB (contentstore 13GB).

Is it normal to have inside the contentstore 8 GB data and 5 GB (13gb-8gb) for other ?

Do you version your PDFs? Then you can expect that you will occupy more space (your versions need to be kept).
Do you delete stuff, but not empty the waste bin? They are still around, check in Alfresco Explorer, User Profile and then Manage deleted items. If you have many deleted items, delete them permanently, and wait for the orphan cleaner to run (think it is 4am). Then they will be moved from contentstore to contentstore.deleted. Now check your size, and see if it is closer to what you are seeing in CIFS (will never match exactly).

Still, I dont see any cause for alarm here.
