Advanced Search in Dashlet

Hi everyone.I´m a developer from Brazil and at the moment I´m using Alfresco Share for some customizations.Now, I need to create an Advanced Search in a dashlet, but this research need to find metadata too.This research is possible? Can I research in metadatas of the files?Tks!

Yes absolutely possible. The repository side JavaScript search API can find documents via any of the indexed metadata (which by default, is pretty much everything, including all custom metadata unless you mark it otherwise).

You will need to write a data webscript on the repo side (take a look at the Share search webscript - but yours can be a lot simpler probably):
\HEAD\root\projects\remote-api\config\alfresco\templates\webscripts\org\alfresco\slingshot\search
you will probably return your data as JSON, then process it in Share in your dashlet and display it as required. The YUI Datagrid is one way to display the data - there are many examples of using and customizing this control in the Share application.

Did you happen to find anything in your end? I don't have to create a dashlet, but does Share Search on Metadata (like description, author) work at all?

Does the search on description or author work by default in the "Simple Google like Search" field in the top right hand corner in Share?
Do I have to do any configuration changes to get there?

In 3.3 (code currently available in our public SVN) we have added description to the list of fields that are automatically searched.

Also in 3.3 the power of the Share search has been greatly improved. It now uses the latest fts-alfresco language as the default, this means you can do all sorts of queries, including searching properties such as author, for example:

quoted phrases: "alfresco book"
   bracketed elements: (bread and cheese) or chips
   property search: modifier:kevinr
   date ranges: modified:["2009-10-20" to "2009-10-21"]
   mix it all up: "alfresco book" and not modifier:kevinr and modified:["2009-10-20" to "2009-10-21"]
   All elements are automatically expanded to search: name,title,description and TEXT property if no specific property specified
   so the search: "alfresco book" and not modifier:kevinr
   translates as - find me all items that contain the phrase "alfresco book" in the name or title or description or contents and were not modified by kevinr

We implemented advanced search in Share a few months back but were reluctant to post any solution as the Alfresco roadmap had it planned for Q1 2010 release. The current roadmap has moved the Advanced Search release to Q4 2010.

I am wary that our solution is very likely to be completely different from the Alfresco solution and i'm not sure how this will be taken up by our end-users when we eventually move to the Alfresco solution.

Regardless, if anyone is interested in an interim solution please post your interest and i will look at a way of making the code available. The solution is not a dashlet, it is a seperate page and makes use of the forms engine. It also introduces additional maintenance issues i.e another xml file of the content model. It was developed quite rapidly and maybe some extra hands could assist in fine tuning this solution.

Thanks for posting that so other users can share it! We will be adding an advanced search UI to Share in 3.4 - unfortunately it didn't make it into 3.3 (just the advanced fts syntax as above).

That's incredible that alfresco didn't migrate the advanced search of the old "Alfresco Web Explorer" (JSF) into Share.
That's the heart of alfresco business software : "store and search".

Advanced Search UI for Share is scheduled for 3.4 - it has a much more modern and usable design than the old Explorer client.

OK. But that's too late for me .
IP-TechLabs > I just extracted as it the zip archive for 3.2r2 community and started alfresco share.
Then "add document", "create folder" menus doesn't not appears anymore….is there something more to do ?

EDIT : appearently, alfresco share EE 3.2r interface is not exactly the same as alfresco share 3.2r2 CE interface. In the latter, the add document button is not present in fact….
