Is it possible to export only rules (or only users, etc.)

Hello,Is it possible to export/import only Repository rules? This would allow content rules to be defined and tested, and then deployed into a live Repository… thanks!

Found some information regarding inability to export rules with the repository on the Wiki…

this is most unfortunate, considering our current project requires a number of rules set up and tested in dev/qa environment before deploying them into production.

Is there anything I can do to export/import rules at all?

You should be able to import/export anything from the repository (a lot of work has been done in 1.3 to enhance the functionality), however, I don't believe you can import/export specific 'things' i.e. just rules.

What you can do is export the space you are interested in and then edit the contents of the resulting ACP file to remove what you don't need.

Thank you for your response.

I tested your recommendation with mixed results…

When importing an ACP file, it does not merge anything but creates another branch with the same name…

(this means jumping through hoops when trying to set up repository rules in Staging Repository and moving them to Production Repository?)

Also, what should I use to edit the ACP file? I tried opening it with Note/Wordpad and it looked binary…

The ACP file is a ZIP file, so rename it to .ZIP and you should be able to see it's contents.
There should be an XML file containing the export details, and any content files that were also exported.

I noticed that node-UUID's get exported into the XML file…. Could this cause problems if export from one repository is imported into another?

No, by default, the Node UUIDs are ignored i.e. they're allocated new IDs on import - either into the same repository they were originally exported from or another repository.

Alternative Import UUID_BINDINGs do use the node UUID, for example, to find existing nodes for update.
