Twitter trends dashlet fails

I installed the dashlet examples and added it to the dashboard. When I try to load the twitter ttrends dashlet it gives this error : org.alfresco.web.scripts.WebScriptException - TypeError: Cannot read property "trends" from null (AlfrescoScript#12) org.alfresco.web.scripts.PresentationScriptP

As to the bug - I'm not sure. It looks like the Twitter service isn't returning correctly formatted JSON (although it looks ok from a very brief inspection just now). Unfortunately that sample code doesn't contain much error checking / validation - I'll find out who wrote it and point them here.
