I take the following steps:

1. Check out a document
2. Download and save it locally with the same name as the working copy. It is read/write
3. Open the Alfresco add-on

The problem is in your Step 2. As far as the add-in is concerned, you've just loaded up any-old Word document that happened to be on your local drive. It has no idea it was downloaded from Alfresco. The good news is that you can skip steps 1 and 2 altogether (1 is optional, 2 is causing the problem).

You can check-out documents directly from the add-in window, or look at the "My Checked Out Documents" list and load the document from there. The add-in will then recognise it as being loaded from Alfresco.

Edit: Forgot to mention that you might also want to take a look at our native Sharepoint protocol support, which although not yet 100% complete will eventually mean you won't need the separate add-in install.

Hi,

thats nice…but not a real workflow for users.
They would like to search the file on the web, checkout and edit and it should end up in word and can be edited and checked in from there.
The supplied add-in is sweet, but the window is much too small to really work efficently with it. I doubt that the "normal" users will accept that.
Any idea?
