What does the Cleanup code do? It seems to hang the current transaction.

That is very strange. The stacktrace clearly shows a problem around that line

me.ffusion.bpm.javaDelegates.Cleanup.executeBusinessLogic(Cleanup.java:22)

No idea what is causing the exception you mention if this is just a logging line :s
