Hi there,
* the alfresoc versioning service defines its functions here: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Versioning

* deleted content is moved to the trash bin, which every user can clean for himself or the admin globally. In the explorer client, you can delete/copy/edit one object at a time. The APIs can do more.

* Exporting works via the Admin console

* webdav and cifs are file protocols and are not designed to work with custom contenttypes. Upload the contents first, then do the rest "inside Alfresco" via manual or scripting action

* Search, Spezialising, changing properties, transofrmations - is all "customizing the client". See the customizing guides and the developer series on ecmarchitect.com. Basis answer to every question except transformation: Yes. Transformations do support all formats, that OpenOffice can transform into PDF, plus some others .See web-client-config.xml for a detailed list.

* CIFS is very talkative and unencrypted, same as SAMBA. So WAN as in synchron high bandwith connection between two locations - yes, WAN = Internet - rather not.

Hi Norgan,
It isnt clear if a particular version of a node can be deleted. I am using the webservice api and dont find any api for deleting a version. It provides deleting
the version history. Any idea?

hi,

as far as i konw alfresco doesn't support the deletion of a particular version at all. only the complete version history can be deleted, as you already found out.
