What are the advatanges of Alfresco?

I would like to know what are the advantages/disadvantages of Alfresco over open source CMSs such as OpenCMS.Thanks.

It rather depends upon what you want and need from your CMS. Alfresco is an Enterprise class content management system which means it can be (and is) used for large and demanding applications.

The product is now mature being on its third major version but it is still growing quickly and the list of advantages are many.

I heard that the last versions are still beta, and that the last stable version is 2.2.
Usually I'd go for the last stable version. It seems like a big gap between the last stable version and the last version, is that so?

The latest stable versions are Enterprise 3.0.1 and Labs 3D/Stable and are not beta quality. (Although there will be optional components of Labs such as Web Studio which is at Beta quality.)

You, of course, can also use Enterprise 2.2.2 or Labs 2.9C but many users want the new features of Alfresco 3 such as sharepoint support or the share application.
