To access the sandbox via CIFS you need to mount the Alfresco repository, not a local folder on your hard drive. To do this, map a network drive to "\\hostnameA\AVM", where hostnameA is the hostname of the machine that Alfresco is running on with the letter "A" on the end.

I got it working with \\hostname_A\AVM
You forgot to add the underscore.

Mounting could have been made a bit clearer in the wiki, because this rly is a nice powerful feature.

The underscore indicates that you're using version 2.0.x. The underscore was removed in 2.1.x (it caused problems in some network environments), so bear in mind that you'll have to remap the drive when / if you upgrade.
