topic firewall ports and login in Alfresco Archive

I like to have my ip chains drop all requests except what I need to have open (I don't know if that's good practice but…). Yet, everytime I set it this way I cannot login. Oddly I was able to see the login screen, but nothing happens after that. I have my alfresco running on 9090. I open that port, and still nothing loads. It might need some other ports to be open, but I just cannot figure out what it might be. Even running nnap, and opening everything listed, I cannot get alfresco to let me log in. I've checked the server config page on the wiki- no help.
