I have similar issue, the same error in logs.
When I first open Properties dialog, then I'm able to edit/add property, but after that when I'm trying to select an item to edit, the item gets deselected.

Mariusz, I'm seeing the same behaviour in the form-properties dialog (in eclipse JUNO). I'm looking into this right now to see what has gone wrong. This is most likely the same issue as anfi is experiencing.

The issue was introduced when a major refactor was done to unify the model-update and undo-support for all property-windows in the designer. I fixed this issue in https://github.com/Activiti/Activiti-Designer/commit/7905f0f244654ebd69fcc0b95005470ec314e915 (http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/ACT-1897).
