Hi Ryan

1) ..is intentional. Groups must be unique according to the group id.
Groups will move into the repsository when they will have an additional name attribute which you could change. At the moment a group is just group id and a list of members (gid/uid).

2) Yes, there was an issue with space in group names. This is fixed in 1.2.1
