Does work CIFS in Alfresco 2.9.0 B?

After having Alfresco community 2.1 installed and working on windows vista, I decided to test 2.9B anf found out that the CIFS connection is not working. No error message in the logs though.It is just me or anybody else is having similar problems?

I forgot… NetBIOS is in the path (as I said before I had a working CIFS conenction and a mapped drive working under 2.1 community.

IÃ‚Â´m not sure if it is a problen on mi side but I updated to the last 2.9B nightly (20080108) and in a new instalation Alfresco works (vista, JDK 6_0u4, Tomcat6.0.14) but CIFS and FTPO does not and the logs shows:

hi,
I see you are in a hurry with this problem..

Im not quite sure (must ask our administrator), but I think we had the sme problem with this latest build… So we rolled back to build 20071227 and CIFS is working again.

Ill let you know as soon as I find out for sure if this was the issue.

yes my admin has confirmed that with the buikd 20080108 we had problems to run CIFS and FTP protocols.

We were not trying to solve it.. just roled back to previous version because we need CIFS for our workflow (and have to solve other issues).

Sorry I am new in Alfresco, but I am quite interested in the new 2.9.0B release. About CIFS I have readed in the documentation that CIFS is not enabled in Multy-Tenancy yet.

I have upgraded my system from 2.0 to 2.9.0B and did not get CIFS to work, Have your considered this documentation before trying to work with CIFS or you know if there is a new release with Multy-Tenantcy that supports CIFS?

I do not think there is new version that supports CIFS in Multi-Tenancy. (I would also appriciate this).

Moreover, it seems to me that, there is some problem with CIFS running in the latest build 20080108. Maybe you can also try the previous build which does not seem to have this CIFS problem.

Thanks for the answer. So just for me to be clear, you mean that the previous build of the 2007-12-27 of Alfresco 2.9 supports multi-tenancy and CIFS, sorry did not understand exactly what you mean. I am working and testing this 2.9 Multi-Tenancy version as I think can help my purpouses a lot. If there is any way of configuring Multy-Tenancy and CIFS, could you please guide me where I can get the documentation where it is explained how this can be done?

sorry for missleading you. I was talking about the Nightly Builds of Alfresco 2.9B in a "single-instance single-tenant (ST) environment". At lest two of us (I do not know about anybody else) had the problem with CIFS in the latest build (20080108) that can be dowloaded from
http://dev.alfresco.com/downloads/nightly/dist/

So I rolled back to previous nightly-build of 2.9B and CIFS is working again (I do not know the result from mabayona)

It seems that the problem is known to Alfresco and is due to a compilation error during the on going integration of JLAN in alfresco (see AR-1987).

A workaround is described in the bug description but the solution seems to be to wait for next nightly/release of 2.9.

Unfortunatelly since previous nightlies are not available, it seems to be the only solution possible.

Hi guys

I have tried to install this new 2.9C nightly build from the 24th.

I have tried to use the install wizard for Linux, and start a brand new installation in my PC. But after choosing the right options in the wizar and set the installation to work with MySQL. I find these problems:

Problem1) In the file alfresco.sh the variable $ALF_HOME is set to @@ALFRESCO_DIR@@, which is not recognized when I try to launch alfresco. My asumption was that this variable should be set in the Install Wizard.

Problem2) In the file start_oo.sh the variable @@ALFRESCO_DIR@@ and also refers to a directory in the Alfresco directory called 'openoffice.org2.1', but in the folder structure under the Alfresco parent directory, I find the directory 'openoffice'

Problem3) After changing the openoffice directory and the alfresco directory variables in alfresco.sh and start_oo.sh, got a problem as the files under /opt/Alfresco/openoffice/program are only with rights rw-r–r–. I have changed them to rwxr-x-r–.

Problem4) I have tried then to launch the alfresco application "sudo ./alfresco.sh"… but got this error message:

Thn I have installed the version 2.1, and then upgraded it to 2.9C and worked fine. Still having some problems creating business rules in tenants, and other configuration i am still checking, but… did you manage to get Alfresco 2.9C installed using the Install wizar for Linux???

I have opened this as a bug as was the same in 2.9.0B

I have also attempted to install 2.9.0B under openSUSE 10.3. I have the following remarks:

1. Programs elements in the openoffice package downlaoaded are not made runable.
2. After changing @@ALFRESCO_DIR@@ in alf_start.sh, alf_stop.sh, and start_oo.sh, as well as setting the AFL_HOME variable in alfresco.sh at least Tomcat starts and is accessible in the web-browser.
3. I the get a [Java framework] Error in function createUserSettingsDocument (elements.css). javaldx failed!
4, A folder called @@ALFRESCO_DIR@@ is created in my /opt/alfresco directory. This folder contains oouser folder.

I think the best you can try as first solution is installing the last nightly biuld for version 2.9c_dev.

Thanks. I will attempt that tomorrow. Yesterday just to do something I installed the ingres-alfresco bundle, and that is now working. However, I would rather used mysql-alfresco, since I am more familiar with mysql and with ingres.

in the file alfresco-shared.properties in C:\Alfresco\virtual-tomcat\conf

It is working for me no errors on the console of Virtual tomcat 😎

I am trying to map a Drive using CIFS with our single tenant aflresco configuration but we are getting an error everytime the login and password of the super admin is introduced.

Seems that you got CIFS to work in 2.9, could you please take a look to this post http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12868 and let us know how you got it?
