To help us work out some of the more straight-forward install issues, try running the install and run .bat script files from a command prompt (cmd) in the c:\alfresco directory.

If there are any problems with locating MySQL, or the database hasn't been created sucessfully, then messages that normally disappear from view are visible and should help.

The simple scripts assume that Alfresco is installed in C:\ and if you put it anywhere else, you will need to adjust the start & stop scripts.

Likewise, they assume that MySQL is installed in C:\mysql and not configured as a service. If you already have MySQL installed and running, comment (rem) out the lines that start & stop MySQL from the Alfresco scripts.

Lastly, if you already have Tomcat running, you're best off stopping your existing one while playing with Alfresco (unless you fancy monkeying with port settings). Same goes for JBoss - if you already have it, then don't run it while using Alfresco.

Any other issues, post messages in the appropriate forum.

Cheers
Paul.

Have installed Bitnami Alfresco Community stack 5.0.c-0 successfully it seems.

problem is the software opens a browser window and prompts for login and password.

Try as I might I cannot find a login and password combination which works.

Does anybody know anything about this?

Bitnami is a pre-configured machine so it depends on what they have set up when the installed Alfresco. You could try admin/admin or admin/bitnami but it shoudl be in the Bitnami documentation that came with the VM.

Hi,

I installed according http://docs.alfresco.com/community/tasks/simpleinstall-community-lin-text.html to Alfresco community version alfresco 5.0.d on a CentOS 6.6 system. But if I now try to access alfresco from my windows-pc using http://<ipadress of linux server>:8080/share or only http://<ipadress of linux server>:8080 I just got unable to connect. I also tried to restart alfresco with ./alfresco.sh stop and ./alfresco.sh start but still not working. On the same linux server moodle, joomla and wordpress are running for test purposes. They are all accessable an running without problems. Is Apache Webserver running in parallel a problem? But I tried to stop Apache and restart Alfresco but still the problem. I also made sure that the firewall of the company opened port 8080. Any other ports that have to be open? Then I discovered in alfresco.log many error messages/exceptions that I cannot interprete. See the attached log-file.

Thanks in advance for help!

Your problem is that Alfresco cannot get the servers IP address. Make sure you have a host name in /etc/hostnames amd make sure /etc/hosts is pointing to it.
